Bowel Obstruction Symptoms

The most common symptoms are:

        ·         Abdominal pain
       ·         Abdominal distension
       ·         Nausea
       ·         Vomiting
       ·         Fecal vomiting
       ·         Constipation
       ·         Breath Odor


Other symptoms:

        ·         Fever
       ·         Back pain
       ·         Dizziness
       ·         Weight loss
       ·         Chest pain
       ·         Breathing difficulty
       ·         Rectal bleeding


Symptoms may vary depending on the level of the person bowel obstruction.

In small bowel obstruction the abdominal pain tends to be cramping and recurrent, the pain will last for a few minutes. The pain usually starts on the central abdomen then to the mid abdomen, vomiting usually occurs before spasm.

In large bowel obstruction the pain usually starts on the lower abdomen and the pain will last longer, vomiting is less noticeable and the abdominal constipation starts earlier. Some large bowel obstruction symptoms are also present when small bowel obstruction symptoms occurs.
